Why I'm Running

Jim Read

Our national politics have become recklessly partisan, and economic opportunities for middle-class Americans have been steadily shrinking.

Our District was hard hit by the mortgage crisis and recession. Government shutdowns and threats of debt default hinder our fragile recovery. Young people entering the job market face an uncertain future. We must invest in education and job skills, support small and medium-sized businesses, and guarantee economic opportunity to the next generation.

If elected I will do everything in my power to restore civic trust and economic opportunity for our community and the nation as a whole.

I am proud to be working for a candidate who trusts women to make their own healthcare decisions. Another huge issue of mine is the military. My twin sister Emily is a U.S. Marine and just recently received notice she will be stationed in Okinawa, Japan for 2 years...

As a woman and a mom to a young daughter, women's issues are always at the top of my list. We still have a lot of work to do to empower women--equal pay for equal work, access to safe and affordable healthcare options, expand access to high-quality affordable childcare...
